Over the past six years of supporting small business entrepreneurs with GIS , I have found that most entrepreneurs really have no clue about the power of GIS for small business success. No wonder! for years, GIS has been the secret weapon of big business. Although we can try to educate each small business owner, one at a time, or via “parking lots” for small businesses like chambers of commerce, franchisors, etc. I believe that the real solution is reaching out to our future entrepreneurs via high school business classes, college entrepreneurship and business programs, and organizations like Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) clubs.
